Remote Device Access Enters Beta

Peridio now offers secure remote access tunneling to connected devices through managed proxy servers, supporting SSH, SCP, SNMP, and more.

Peridio remote access & secure tunneling will enter general availability on July 1, 2024, and starting today, existing customers can enroll in the beta to get early access. Key features of this release include:

  • The ability to open secure tunnels to devices on demand.
  • No protocol constraints: use SSH, SNMP, or other esoteric or even custom protocols.
  • Communications brokered through a centralized Peridio-managed proxy server.

Some of the most exciting early use cases include:

  • Troubleshooting Deployed Devices: Remotely diagnose and resolve issues with devices operating in the field at customer sites.
  • Remote Monitoring and Management: For B2B companies providing device management services, enabling secure remote access to monitor, manage and control client devices.
  • Accelerating Product Development: Ease collaboration by sharing access to dev environments with distributed teams during the build process.
  • Enabling Custom Device Management: Teams can leverage the tunneling infrastructure to build custom portals/interfaces to provide their customers remote device access.

Getting started requires being an existing Peridio customer and opting into the beta program. To take advantage of this, customers must update the latest Peridio agent and can then initiate the connections through the API or CLI. Refer to the API Docs and Developer Guides for more details.

This functionality expands upon our widely used in-browser remote console by accelerating integration times, optimizing performance, and dramatically improving extensibility. Beyond the more straightforward applications of SSH and SCP, we’re excited to see other use cases our customers come up with. - Daniel Spofford, CTO

We view this only as the beginning and are excited to see what additional requests come following adoption. Currently, road-mapped for us are:

  • IP allow-listing to provide an optional means of restricting access independent of the protocol in use
  • Integration of customer-managed proxy servers
  • An integrated key management service for streamlined credential provisioning

Please let us know if you have additional use cases or desired functionality!
