Fast and Safe Cohort Deletion

Quickly and safely delete cohorts in your organization including guided conflict resolution for devices and CA certificates to ensure seamless deletion.

What is a Cohort?

Cohorts are logical groupings of devices within a product that enable group metrics and releases for sub-sections of your fleet.

Organizations can create cohorts at will. At some point, you may wish to delete a cohort. This may be because the cohort:

  • was intended to be temporary
  • was created in error
  • is no longer relevant and necessary

The act of deleting a cohort was historically reserved for execution solely by Peridio staff. This was due to the potentially disruptive side-effects that could occur if careful consideration was not taken with respect to downstream impact of that action to related resources.

Deleting Cohorts

We are happy to announce that the ability to quickly and safely delete cohorts via the web console is now available to all organizations.

Guided Conflict Resolution

While some cohort-specific data must be deleted, like historical metrics and releases, there is other data you may wish to retain and more gracefully disconnect from the cohort. In particular, the devices that belong to that cohort, as well as CA certificates with a JITP config that assign that cohort to devices.

When devices or JITP configs are present when attempting to delete a cohort, the system will inform you of the action you need to take, and facilitate you conveniently taking that action.

The “Devices” link will take you to a list of exactly those devices where you are able to conveniently select them and either in a single bulk action re-assign them to a different cohort, or if desired take a more granular approach potentially moving them to a number of other cohorts, or no cohort at all.

The “CA Certificates” link will take you to a list of exactly those CA certificates where you are able to conveniently update the relevant JITP configs to either use a different cohort, or no cohort at all.

Once you have taken care of all devices and JITP configs, you are able to complete the deletion of the cohort.
